Boat Gear Direct (BGD) is the retail division of EYE Marine Ltd and was formed to allow us to meet the requirements of those who do not wish to purchase in large commercial quantities, we supply a range of high quality marine products specifically aimed at those who require equipment for Mooring, Anchoring or Berthing.
Because our parent company trades exclusively and in large quantities directly with the manufacturer of the products we supply the prices that we offer are invariably exceptionally cost effective whilst retaining the quality demanded by the discerning commercial customers of EYE.
EYE Marine Ltd (EYE) was formed in 1989 to supply the Mooring Industry. At that time we specialised in used chain, our geographic location meant that we were in an ideal position to import second-hand chain from Holland and Belgium where it had been used as anchor chain on the thousands of Inland Waterway vessels found in these countries.
It wasn’t long before our customers were asking for other products. We now supply a wide range of equipment to a customer base that includes Trinity House, M.O.D., R.N.L.I., Harbour Authorities, British Waterways, Mooring Contractors, Boatbuilders, Marinas and Chandlers, we quickly became known as the ‘one stop shop’ for chain and mooring equipment.
Our products are used in various locations, the most prestigious of which is probably the exclusion zone area adjacent to the Houses of Parliament on the River Thames. We have exported to countries as far flung as Canada, Chile, Russia and the U.S.A. Our mooring anchors are used to hold the ‘Americas Cup’ weather reporting buoys on station. We have recently designed mooring systems and supplied chain for a number of navigation systems in both the UK and mainland Europe.
We now stock a huge range of new marine grade chains aimed at the Mooring and Leisure Marine industries and yes, we still have good quality used ex-ships chain available. We carry large stocks of all the products that we offer, consequently orders from a single item to a lorry loaded with chain can be dispatched promptly.
As specialist mooring suppliers for over 30 years we are pleased to offer advice gained from the ‘hands on’ experience of staff who have combined total of over 100 years worth of knowledge.
Our fabrication facilities allow us to offer chains with enlarged end links and all other variations. A recently improved rope splicing facility means that we can produce a range bespoke of dock-lines, rope/chain anchoring combinations and mooring assemblies.
